OK, I totally agree that it has been way too long since I posted….I’ve missed you all! I’ve been trying to think about what has been on my mind the most lately to blog about. There are so many things happening, deployments, birthdays, housework, kids, you name it! One thing happened when I was reading the paper the other day that has had me upset ever since. First you’ll need some background.

My husband and I are both military, we support the military (not all decisions but all military personnel) we stand behind and next to our military counterparts EVERY step of the way! That is what every member signed up for, to help his fellow soldier, protect EVERY American, and our rights. I believe in that just as strongly as I did 12 years ago when I joined. I also believe EVERY American should support me since I put my life on the line for them (not to mention my children gave their parents and my spouse gave up having a companion for 6-18 months). There is ALOT of people giving to provide this freedom…this is what we do. I just returned from a deployment leaving a 3yr old and 1yr old to be without their mother so I could support our operations in Guantanamo Bay (GTMO) Cuba. I am VERY glad I did.

It should not come to anyone’s surprise that when I read “we are supporting the prisoners at GTMO” most specifically “the top prisoner” I became ANGRY. I went to Cuba so American lawyers can fight against me and protect the enemy???  WHAT??? This must be some kind of joke! I have some very close friends at GTMO and I care for them deeply! I am almost certain that if any of the prisoners were released they would have no problem killing my friends that are stationed there. These are not nice people! We didn’t “round up” the innocent and send them to an island for fun. Like most military processes there is a process to determine “innocence”. Is the one we use here in the U.S. fullproof? No. Is the military process fullproof? No But the process is the best the soldiers can do. I served with some of the best soldiers in the world in GTMO and I don’t doubt their integrity for a minute!

So here’s my thoughts. There is more to life than a buck, I have learned that alot lately (thanks Cynthia). Stand by your fellow American’s and your country or move to another one! Your choice to live here is YOUR CHOICE! This is an ALL VOLUNTEER service, which means, these people signed up to protect you and your rights maybe you could fight against someone else…..like the enemy that killed so many American’s on Sept 11th!
