I needed to blog today… August 23, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — wyomissa @ 7:52 pm

It has been forever since I blogged. I need to today though. I probably need to ramble more than anything. I have been evaluating friendship lately. With the recent change in duty station we are on the move. More and more I have seen military spouses posting requests for moms get togethers, wife’s meetings, you name it. The soldiers have a new unit and new soldiers to train with. The wives and kids get to start over. I miss my friends, terribly! The days in Colorado with the most amazing ladies and friends seem like a dream. I will meet more, in due time, until then, man I miss my friendships.

I love sweets! April 19, 2009

Well I was unpacking boxes and found a cookie book I didn’t know even existed ( I obviously needed to buy that). I love it when you find new (but not so new) things. So I decided to make some cookies with the kids tonight. We made lemon bar cookies. WOW they were so good! We have delivered some to our great neighbors and tomorrow we will drop some off for the babysitter and her parents. I absolutely love to bake, its the cleaning of the kitchen that keeps me from doing it more often. I am NOT a fan of cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like things dirty so I clean often, but I don’t like it at all! So, obviously I have a problem, I love sweets and love to bake, but don’t like to clean up after it :(

Hand, Foot and Mouth February 6, 2009

Oh yes, the newest sickness to plague our family. The two oldest have it now and mommy is praying that the little one doesn’ t get it. Good thing it has gotten cold here in Colorado Springs, I can stayed inside with the festering disease and hope it doesn’t spread, oh and wash everything is sight! GOOD TIMES.

On the bright side, all the meds sure do keep the kids moving slower than usual :)

Motherhood…Marriage…REALLY? What was I thinking? January 28, 2009

Newest AdditionYes, I know. If I had not chosen this path I would not have had the beautiful children I have been blessed with. I totally agree with that statement. Plus I love them more than anything (to include me). Maybe thats what God intended since we have this gene and men do not. It is inevitable that I will put their needs before my own, as our mothers did us (most of us). But would I tell my daughters to do the same thing. Here is an excerpt of my day: 0600 wake up, nurse baby, get kids ready for school, stop at school, daycare, nursery (yes, three different stops for three different children). Get to work at about 0900, shots for baby at 1300, get home, work until time for kids to come home, make dinner, clean kitchen, get the kids in their jammies, read stories, sing songs, give kisses and now it is 1930, I still have to work for the next 2 hours to make up for the time I was getting the baby’s shots today. So the question is would I tell me girls to take the same route? When your life will be filled with no time to care for yourself. When there will be days you will forget to brush your teeth because you are caring for others. When you will get passed up for a promotion because you couldn’t travel and leave three kids like the men in the office could…. hum. Honestly I don’t know. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been to the houses where husbands help make dinner, clean the house, let the wife get on the treadmill, have time to herself, drop the kids at school, help pack lunches; this will never be my home and thus my two little girls will not marry that helpful man either…sorry girls :(

Okay, didn’t mean to get too crazy on my issues but it was better than getting me started on GITMO…. it would take you all day to read my disdain for our leadership’s recent approach to that.

Half Marathon December 3, 2008

So I decided today I am going to start training for my first half marathon. I would love to go for the full marathon but I think I would probably not reach that goal. I think the Baatan Death March will be the one I train for since it means so much to so many of us military members. It would be a great one to be my first. I am guessing that since I got pretty addicted to running in Cuba it will be easy to get started again. That peace I find when running is kinda like my daily stress relief. I am loving all the nike plus gear too! I am able to track my run, time, pace, you name it! I can’t run without it now! See you on the trails!

Okay, It has been forever since I sat here and had a chance to blog. The new baby is here and things are finally settling down.

Today was such a sad day. Over two years ago I met an amazing couple. Two people who brought so much happiness to my home. My children love them both! As military we don’t have the pleasure of living near family but we work around that and made new family with the Captains. Now they are due to report to their new duty station. So today I said goodbye. It is so rare you meet someone who you could be locked in a house with for days due to a snowstorm and now want to kill them although after three days, I envited them to dinner the next night. The brought us happiness, fun, love. They were our family. I will miss them. Although this close to Thanksgiving I guess I should say… What a blessing we got when we met them! I am so thankful for such wonderful people that our brought into our lives. With each duty station I have taken amazing friends with me when I left, they will all be in my heart forever. From Virginia, Florida, Oklahoma. You all mean so much to me.

Support? Aid? Are you crazy? June 22, 2008

Okay, recently I was talking with someone who was complaining about our support in Afghanistan. We blew up their country and kicked out the Taliban, which was their main government and now we offer them no aid….. hummm. So what does wyomissa think of this! I think its crap! I think this “smart” guy should add up the dollar amount they would like to have given to the people of Afghanistan. Total the number of men that died there, total up the number of spouses that are now widows and single parents, total the number of children without a parent. Put a price on all that loss and see what costs more! I’m gonna take a wag and say….. the lives we lost on Sept 11th and everyday after fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan (I’ll leave out Iraq for the purpose to not start another fight). I believe our total is 530 lost and we already total half of the number killed in all of last year in the past 4 months, looks like a record year.

I know many people say that “they have lost thousands”. Here’s my thoughts on that. If we sent our men to die for every 3rd world country and became the worlds policemen our number would be alot higher than 530.  I would also say to those people to check the total of people that were killed under Saddam’s regime and then continue to argue against that war. YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS! Thousands more innocent people were killed under Saddam than were ever killed in Afghanistan under the Taliban… should we not rescue the thousands dying there? Our entire reason for going to Afghanistan was Sept 11th. To kill the Taliban who attacked our country and if you haven’t read the news lately we are still in a VERY active war with them. We didn’t go to free the people of Afghanistan, we didn’t go to provide “support and aid” we went to wage war against people who came here and killed Americans…… point blank. So I say get real! Feel free to send them your money but I think our country and our service men and women have paid them enough!

Bedrest… you must be kidding!!! June 20, 2008

Well, posting shouldn’t be a problem for the near future. Bedrest is on my list of things to do. Yes, to keep baby healthy I must lay here and go crazy myself! Well, bedrest would be pretty hard for most wives with two children 4 and 2 and a husband deployed but my wonderful church family has taken care of everything! Can you believe it? I was pretty suprised myself. I even got dinner delievered by my best friend. So the kids are not at all happy but we are all together, moma is laying down and baby is still growing and kicking. All gifts from God! Of course, I’ll post again, not much else to do :)
